A group of seven Slovenians, seven Dutch and three Americans were holding a BBone week in Murska Sobota, Slovenia. With lot’s of small activities they tried to make contact with people from the area and make them interested in the work of Atlantic Bridge.
We started the BBone in Hodos with a training weekend, where we were divided in special groups, to prepare games, music and interviews for the upcoming week. We also used the time to get to know each other and become a team.
After the weekend we went to Murska Sobota where we stayed the rest of the week. We played games like spider web and wrapping people up in toilet paper, to interact with people who were walking in the park. We also played songs such as “Stand by me” and “Break away”.
We lived in host families during the week and my family was great and they were really open and friendly. I have learned a lot in this week, especially to be flexible because there were a lot of things uncertain. In this week I saw a lot of friends of last year’s exchange and together we had an awesome time.
An important moment of the week happened during a devotion. Every morning we started with a devotion, including prayer and songs. I felt really bad that morning and I was tired and just wanted to sleep. Jennifer, an American leader, did the devotion that morning. She started telling us, that she could not decide what to talk about at first, but that God gave her the theme. She started talking about, that when you believe in God, your life is not gonna be perfect and you still will have pain and sorrow. But that in the end you will see that it is all worth it.
That was definitely a good moment for me, and it became one of my highlights for the week.
During the week, I have learned not to be afraid to sing and speak in front of a group of people and to hold on to my personal faith, even if the people one might meet, may not believe in God. All together, I had an awesome week, and for me it was really special to see the people from last year again, our relationships got deeper and in the end we all felt like one big family.
