Hostess/Host & Handy Man needed!

Long-term, individuals or couples may apply
As of January 2009 Atlantic Bridge is starting a Dream Team which will live in De Vierslag Center in Kruiningen. This team is made up of 6-8 young people/young adults from different countries and cultures who work together for one year to implement the mission of building bridges in various regions. For this team to be most effective, we need a hostess or host who will provide a warm and welcoming home base for them.

This household coordinator is not someone who does everything for the team, but one who will manage the house and help look after these young people. Your tasks are varied, but will include: coordinating several team meals a week, coordinating laundry and cleaning tasks, organizing weekly Atlantic Bridge coffee times, hosting guests and training weekends, hosting a weekly coffee time with the team. We would like to restart our weekly (or twice-weekly) Oxford Chimes (devotional / meditation time with staff, volunteers and interns) and the host/ess could coordinate this as well. A heart for God and young people and a willingness to serve, often behind the scenes, are required.

We would also like to have a handy man who can do a variety of tasks in the house. Painting, plumbing, electrical work, light carpentry, gardening, maintenance, tiling... There are 101 little jobs that always need to be done in a building dating from 1934!

Age is irrelevant, but this could be a perfect job for a retired couple or single (older) person! A furnished apartment in De Vierslag is available as of February 1 for this couple/person. We would prefer a eight-month commitment from Jan to Aug 2009, but a shorter term is also possible. Living expenses are about $1500 per month (couple) or $950 (single) which you would need to raise.

Regional Support Teams

Part-time, volunteer, for mature individuals
Our co-workers in the field. Regional Support Team members form the backbone of our work in each region. Regional Support Teams help provide a local contact point for building bridges in the region, which provides continuity over time. They may help organize events through their local knowledge and their involvement in local churches or professional groups. And they may help interns become acclimatized and established in the region (through introductions, hosting, and help with appointments and scheduling). If you are willing and able to do any of these things in one of our regions, please let us know.
